Ah….Tis the Season of the Little Black Dress

Every time an invitation to a wedding or other similar special event comes in the mail, we as women immediately begin thinking about what we will be wearing to the event.  It’s just seems to be our nature, especially if you are one of those women that has a difficult time finding the perfect outfit like my friend, who will shop from the moment the invitation comes until the day before the event.
The perfect solution to the what to wear dilemma is an easy one, and I’m sure you have heard of it before.  The little black dress that can be worn for less formal functions or dressed up with accessories for more formal affairs is an ideal piece of clothing to have waiting in the wings for these types of events.  It has been said time and time again by experts that every woman should own a little black dress that makes them feel spectacular, making it easy to put it on to attend just about any event.

The little black dress trend began with Audrey Hepburn, who wore her own little black dress on many occasions.  She alone made the style appropriate and classic for almost any occasion, and having her style attached to the idea has made the little black dress one of the most sophisticated routes to go when dressing for a formal or semi formal event.  As just about anyone knows, Audrey has become the standard for classic elegance, so of course the little black dress has followed suit.  Even though past guidelines have stated that wearing black to events such as weddings is taboo, now it is considered to be a classic choice.

There are many types of little black dresses, and they are ever changing.  While a simple black sheath dress used to be the standard, now you will see everything from strapless a-line dresses to long sleeve wrap dresses.  The little black dress has now evolved into basically being whatever style makes you feel good and sexy, regardless of cut or style.  You can basically get away with almost anything, as long as the dress is up to standards formality wise, which most usually are.  If you have events in your future, which you no doubt do, it would serve you well to go out shopping to start looking for your own little black dress.  You will not be disappointed, and you will have a standard dress that you can pull from your closet for almost any occasion.
