Some Tips on The First Steps To Losing Weight and Keeping It Off

Speaking to your Doctor

One of the very first things that you should do is to discuss your plans with your doctor. It really                    makes sense to do so. You never wanna discover that you have serious health issue that resulted with you in a being a hospital after the fact. Now everybody and their mother tells you to talk to your doctor. Well, I’m gonna do a little more than that.

Here are some things you may want to do or say:

  1. I’d like to talk to you about my weight…At this point you’ll want to discuss your concerns about any medical conditions or medicines you’re taking.
  2. Before the appointment write down your questions in advance, so you don’t forget anything.
  3. Bring in a pen and paper to take notes.
  4. Bring a friend or a family member for support if it’ll make you feel more comfortable.
  5. Don’t be afraid ask questions if there is something that you don’t understand.
  6. Ask for other sources like websites, books or brochures.
  7. If you want more help, ask for a referral to dietician, nutritionist or support group.
  8. Call them up after your visit if you have more questions or need help.

Keeping You Accountable

If you are serious about losing the weight. Then take this challenge. Find five people that you respect, and that respect you and your word. These must be people that you do not want to disappoint. Take 5 sheets of paper write out a statement, at least a paragraph, spelling out exactly what you will be doing. DO THIS IN YOUR OWN HANDWRITING. DO NOT TYPE IT OUT ON SOME DAMN COMPUTER OR TYPEWRITER. This is your written word stating that you intend to make the following changes to improve your health, eating habits and lose x amount of weight in 90 days. Please make sure to get that statement notarized to convey that you are not bullshiting like the last 100 times. Give each person a notarized original statement. If you have signed up for a gym, make sure that you give one to your personal trainer.

This part, performed as directed, can make all the difference in the world.
